This is just a metal plate that supports the bolt when the door is closed, but it is a critical component of the deadbolt locking system. As such, we recommend reinforcing your deadbolt strike plate in an effort to make your front door more secure.

How can you do this? You can swap out the screws that are in the existing strike plate. Using long screws to connect the jamb to the strike plate can add security and strength. A box strike plate is another option for replacement.

Another way to make home locks more secure is to use a keyless system. These systems are easy to use and offer more authority when it comes to who can get inside and who cannot get inside. You can offer a code to house guests so they can get in with ease, but you can make sure unwanted persons do not end up with the code. And if it ever becomes a question whether or not the code has been compromised, it can be deactivated.
